CDOTC is a non-profit Obedience Club established in 1951. We welcome dogs of all breeds and ages (puppies need to have completed their vaccinations) and handlers from complete beginners to seasoned veterans competing at the national level. Our trainers, assistant trainers, and executive are all volunteers.
We offer a balanced approach to obedience education - believing that not all dogs learn in the same way or at the same pace. We focus on both Rally Obedience (CKC) and formal Obedience (CKC) offering several classes to suit the needs of a diverse group of dogs and their people. No matter if your goal is to achieve a GMOTCH, or just be able to enjoy a pleasant walk with your canine pal- CDOTC has a class suited to your needs. As a non profit, our lessons are AFFORDABLE and out trainers don't just talk the talk- they have all earned multiple top titles and represent decades of experience. Check out our trainers, our classes, fees, and schedules on our OBEDIENCE CLASSES page.
Lessons take place in Cobble Hill, where we have the benefit of meeting at the Stu Armour Hall - a fully matted, heated/cooled indoor space allowing us to train year round. We also have an annual BBQ and an AGM with amazing year end awards. Our club is a proud member of the AIOC (Association of Island Obedience Clubs), hosting two trials each year. We also play host to some amazing clinics with some of the top Obedience Trainers in North America.
We feel a close connection to both our local community, with a booth at the Cobble Hill Fair each year, as well as to the dog community at large- making generous donations each year to worthy non- profits including local veterinarians (to support pet owners who are experiencing financial hardship), CMS Food Bank (pet food), OVC Pet Trust/Smiling Blue Skies (University of Guelph pet cancer research), Pacific Assistance Dogs Society, Lions Dog Guides, BC&Alberta Guide Dogs, Broken Promises, Citadel Canine Society (supporting people experiencing PTSD with support dogs),
