Beginner Obedience
Begin your registration by emailing Diane Henn. Diane will help to determine the best class for you and your dog.
Beginner dogs can be any age - because learning is a lifelong process!
Handlers must provide proof of UTD vaccinations for their dog.
What will You Learn?
Beginner classes are designed to introduce dogs to basic obedience skills in a fun, low-stress atmosphere. Previous experience is not required. Concepts will include: maintaining focus, sit, down, stay, walking at heel position, impulse training, recall, use of marker word and rewards
What to Bring
Bring plenty of high-value small treats to reward your dog. You will probably need more than you think you will need! You should have a 6 foot leash (retractable leashes are NOT suitable for Obedience classes). When you contact Diane, you will discuss what type of collar or harness is best suited for your dog for class- different dogs have different needs. Note that for people hoping to enter obedience trials, harnesses are not permitted in trials.
